When I lived in china for a year, I was able to access Quidco (normally unavailable in china) with my VPN. I had no issues accessing the site and receiving cashback for hotel stays. If you already have a VPN, it could be worth testing out.

Grateful if we could slowly circle back to the main focus of this particular thread: the Accor IHG merger speculation

Any news on that? Any insider scoops from our Paris-based mavens?

Seems like the rumor mill stopped after the initial news reports, which could mean it was just an accident or active ploy to buoy up share prices, or that the merger talks are ongoing in strict secrecy.

Looks like there is no movement ( apart from the rumor mongers getting a few coins )

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/b...roof-3w6cflfft

small extract .....

The brevity of the bid speculation aimed at Intercontinental Hotels Group last month gave the impression that it was probably no more than rumour-mongering designed to ramp the shares and turn a quick buck for the perpetrators ....Share prices of both companies are up by more than 10 per cent since the articles appeared, with IHG running up from £40 to almost £45. This could suggest the market is warming to the idea of a merger, although it could be the result of the “small but steady improvements in occupancy and revpar”

does being different stock markets (paris and london) negatively impact potential of an all stock deal like marriott starwood ?

biggest owners of accor are certainly interesting, two governments plus huazhu
