Implications of staying in two hotels at the same time
I'll be travelling to Busan for 7 nights staying in the Ibis City Centre. I need to visit Osaka for 1 day & rather than come back the same day, I'd prefer to overnight there. I'd rather not have the hassle of packing up, checking out & rechecking in at the hotel in Busan so, what would be the implications of staying in two hotels at the same time re: points & status nights? I'll need the 7 nights in Busan to retain my Gold status for the following year so, whilst I'd prefer to use an Accor hotel in Osaka, I don't want to jeopardize those status nights.
Does anyone have experience of a similar scenario as described above? |

Does anyone have experience of a similar scenario as described above? Last year I had 2 accor hotels booked for the same night 200 miles away from each other. Which hotel I would be staying in depended on what time a meeting finished. Each hotel was a seperate booking. I emailed accor afterwards to get the correct points for the stay, they replied that the first booking on the system was the one the program accepted and processed, the second booking was not allocated points/stays. So would suggest booking the Busan stay first. |
It will clash within the system and one proepety will not be able to credit the points.
Two things to note. Make sure you advise the hotel you DO NOT wish to have the points/nights for to NOT post points. You can, however, try to talk to someone in the hotel who is willing to help you manually process the points as courtesy points. They will not be able to grant you status nights or status points though. |
Probably the pragmatic approach is to choose another chain or make an OTA booking?
Remember, you're probably making poor decisions anyway if you're throwing all your business to the properties of just one chain. (Because if someone throw's all business to one chain, it seems almost inevitable to conclude that loyalty to the program and not the best product out there is driving the decisions.) |
As others have said Accor Le Club can't cope with two stays on the same day. Besides the IT issue the T & C reason Accor seem to rely on is the member must be staying in the property to earn points and that isn't possible with two stays on the same date.
The only time I have successfully received points for 2 bookings on the same date was a day room booked at an airport followed by a overnight stay in a different city in a different time zone. The stays were consecutive rather than overlapping (I checked out of the first hotel 5 hours before checkin into the second but same day) but it still took Accor CS about two months, multiple emails, documentary evidence the stays were consecutive and a manual override with CS moving one stay to a false date to avoid a date clash before the points could be credited. The moving of one stay to a false date seemed the only way to force the points credit. The original stay auto posted and the second multi day stay failed to post in its entirety before the manual override described resolved this. |
Thanks for the replies. Given the problems you have all kindly highlighted I think I will make alternative arrangements & book elsewhere in Osaka.

How does this work on the same hotel? I have 2 bookings next month: one starts on 26th, one room for my mum and stepdad. The other starts the next day, 2 rooms for us and our kids.
their booking is one night longer than ours but the other booking that includes my room is for 2 rooms. should I ask them to count the second booking - will they give me the points for both rooms for those nights? Or is it better to keep the first booking just for one room with the extra night? thanks |
You may need to talk to them so they don't mess up.
Basically you should get the full points for TWO rooms max. Make sure you bill ALL incidentals to your room. You should also get the nights counted for the complete duration of the two stays (without counting double the night where you have three rooms staying). So basically 1night in the beginning + X nights + 1 night at the end |
