New hotels coming on stream in 2021:
|
SO/ Los Cabos, Mexico
Another major luxury hotel company is headed to Los Cabos: Accor has announced plans to open a new property under its SO/ Hotels & Resorts brand at the end of 2021. The SO/ Los Cabos Hotel & Residences will mark the first property for the brand in Mexico and the second in the region. Set on the outskirts of San Jose del Cabo on seven and a half acres of beachfront, lively social events and entertainment will be a main focus of the property. The new hotel will have 200 guestrooms and 36 luxury residences with beach and ocean views, plus a rooftop experience with two modern Mexican restaurants and a lounge with ocean views surrounded by five swimming pools. Guests will also be able to enjoy an SO/ SPA, offering bespoke treatments inspired by Mexican beauty rituals; access to an 18-hole, Nicklaus Design golf course adjacent to the property; and a fitness center with a glass-bottom pool. |

Seriously, who cares? You can't earn loyalty awards with that chain.
EDITED... Note: Sorry, I missed seeing that they will be part of the new loyalty program. |

EDITED... Note: Sorry, I missed seeing that they will be part of the new loyalty program. It might take time for them to be folded in, but they do get around to it after IT and Training is sorted. |
Swissôtel Bucharest
Paris-based Accor has sealed a deal to open the first Swissôtel hotel in Romania following the signing of a management contract with local partner and investor Business Hotels Investment, a member of the Niro Investment Group. Upon completion, the Bucharest development will feature 225 rooms across 18 floors, restaurants, a pool, a Spa & Sport facility and meeting space. With a reported investment of approximatley €60 million, the project is due to open by 2021 and will become Bucharest’s tallest hotel. Looks exceedingly ugly.... |
Sofitel Ambassador Seoul Hotel
Accor Ambassador Korea, a joint venture between Accor and Ambassador Hotel Group, will launch its first Sofitel Hotel & Serviced Residences in Songpa, Seoul.Slated to open in 2021, Sofitel Ambassador Seoul Hotel & Serviced Residences will feature 563 rooms and suites, an all-day dining restaurant and bar as well as meetings and events space. Mövenpick Resort Savognin (Switzerland)

I sincerely hope it's only a coincidence the MOEVENPICK info comes from a Russian site...
|
...and here's one from a Polish PR site, but not as a coincidence, but because the region is being developed by Accor out of their Polish subsidiary (ex-Orbis):
NOVOTEL Tirana The first Accor hotel in Albania, a country with extremely low penetration by global chains. 130 rooms plus an above-average-sized fitness and wellness area (not clear if only open to guests), the blurb seems to suggest the location is rather remote, closer to the airport than the city centre. The investor is a local petroleum company. https://prowly-uploads.s3.eu-west-1....ea9cf53108.jpg Read the PR blurb in Polish if you care |
Sofitel Casablanca Barú (Colombia)
Apparently, a new Sofitel is planned south of Cartagena de Indias in Colombia. Opening in 2021.

Novotel Zagreb is now scheduled to open by Spring 2021. If the rumours are true, the location will be terrible, far away from anything, really.
And an Ibis Styles will open in Rijeka, also in 2021 https://www.total-croatia-news.com/travel/40127-novotel https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...3204ba8ee8.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ad23d2e354.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...15281d6ac0.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d8ad0d457b.jpg |
Pullman should be opening in Doha, Qatar (there have been adverts for staff).
|
|
Fairmont Rabat (Salé)
Apologies in case this has already been posted but I have made a search and it has returned no results.
I was in the new marina area of Salé, just across the River from Rabat (Morocco) and have seen this : a new Fairmont is being built. I am posting this in the 2021 openings thread, as a dummy booking in 12/2020 did not return this hotel as an option. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f951cd599.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b2c8da544.jpeg |
Mondrian Cannes and Bordeaux

Meanwhile the Bordeaux property will be housed within a 19th century building, and will offer 97 rooms, as well as a lounge bar, spa, meeting space and a 225 sqm open air terrace. The hotel is also scheduled to open in 2021. |

Apologies for a potential stupid question, but the quoted article talks about So like a distinct brand. But are we talking about Sofitel So or something else ? I am getting completely lost in all Accor brands...
|
It is my guess each brand gets a dedicated executive and team, and internal politics plays a role I guess. If a certain executive has a "favourite", to call it that way, they might first install them in the posh Sofitel team, and then after clashes with Sofitel management etc., have "SO" elevated to a separate brand and have the person in question lead that. That way, they can justify luxury travel and expenses as "research", and few people can be incompetent at spending money on luxury.
BTW, Mondrian is not ALL-aligned, so it is as good as none. There is a recently-renovated MGallery in Cannes though. |
Tribe and Mercure, Amsterdam
Accor has announced plans for two new properties in the Dutch city of Amsterdam, including the first hotel under its Tribe brand in the Netherlands. The Tribe and Mercure properties will be housed within the ‘Gare du Nord’ project in Amsterdam-North, next to the Noord station on the North-South metro line..... |

I am glad Accor is making bigger footoprint in Croatia, but i really wish they would bring more hotels on the sea and some Ibis / Ibis styles inland. I find Accor properties very spotty and far and between in the SE Europe/Balkans with much space to improve (Croatian seaside, Albanian seaside, Montenegro, Ohrid area in Macedonia, Greece). I want to see those countries in more detail, but find it hard to "waste" my vacation days in non brand hotels and not getting nights/points. Damn, I'm a damaged person. :D :D :D |
Mondrian Seoul Itaewon
Accor, a world-leading augmented hospitality group, and sbe, the leading international hospitality group that develops, manages and operates award-winning brands, have announced the first Mondrian hotel in Asia Pacific. Mondrian Seoul Itaewon, which is being developed in partnership with Yojin Construction & Engineering, marks the fifth property in the Mondrian portfolio..... https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...169a616f37.png |
Update: "The oldest and most mythic of La Croisette hotels", Le Grand Hotel Cannes can be booked for stays starting end of March 2021, pricing seems very reasonable for what is probably the most central location in Cannes (even if the building itself and the surroundings of its main entrance from the back side are meh), and some photos are up. Most importantly - the website shows full ALL participation, I am not sure if this will be retained once rebranding is complete, but given that management has probably been taken over by Accor directly, it might.

Mondrian Shoreditch London
A Mondrian flag will once again fly over a London hotel roughly two years after the brand left the UK.
Accor and SBE plan to open the Mondrian Shoreditch London in spring 2021, the hotel partners announced Monday morning. The hotel will be the sixth Mondrian and comes after Accor announced plans last month for an independent division for lifestyle hotels. Accor leaders see this sector as a potential for major growth in coming years..... |
An IBIS and Novotel close to Düsseldorf Airport will open in late 2020. Signs are placed at the building, which appear if you search for hotels in Düsseldorf. The hotels are located closer to the Düsseldorf Airport Station (walkable from the location at Wannheimer Straße) than to the airport itself.

Hotel Merici in Sittard, Netherlands, will be rebranded as an MGallery from April 1st 2021.

Mövenpick Hotel Hobart
Premium Swiss-born hospitality brand, Mövenpick, is on its way to Australia after Accor today announced it would open Mövenpick Hotel Hobart in January 2021..... |

Just heard through a very solid source that the upcoming crescent-shaped Katara Towers in Lusail, north of Doha [Qatar] will be opening in May 2021 as Raffles Lusail and Fairmont Lusail. Accor has a job position recruiting a cluster F&B manager at this link.
The Raffles will be a 132-unit all-suite hotel with an additional 49 residences, while the Fairmont will have 361 rooms and suites. khabah |

Just noticed the Steigenberger Business Bay property will become the Pullman Downtown Dubai.
