This is my understanding of it, I am a new Platinum as of a month ago, so if there is anyone else who can correct me, please do.

Basically, breakfast is complimentary at all Le Club-participating hotels in the Asia Pacific region for Platinum members.

In the event of the hotel not having a lounge, or not granting Platinums access to the lounge (Fairmont), breakfast privileges are instead extended to the restaurant for the member and all registered guests staying in the room. In the specific case of Raffles - I'm not sure if they have lounges. I've looked at the Raffles Hainan room types and don't see any "lounge access" rooms. I have never stayed in a Raffles hotel, so I cannot accurately comment.

In the event of a hotel having a lounge (except Fairmont), then breakfast is provided for Platinum members (and registered guests of the room) in the lounge. Some hotels may, at their discretion, also extend breakfast privileges to the restaurant.

It would be nice to know which hotels do this.
Breakfast in the main restaurant usually has a many, many more choices than anything in the lounge.
As I travel through asia as accor platinum, I will try to report on how each hotel I stay at handles this.

Yes the main restaurant has more choice, but the lounge is quieter and generally less of a 'zoo'. Many posters here have commented in their reviews that lounge staff are happy to try to accommodate a guest's preference if an item is unavailable in the lounge.

You could always reach out to the hotels you are considering to stay at and ask what their breakfast policy is for Platinums.

I have booked (in early January 2019) 2 rooms at Fairmont Beijing and also 2 rooms at Fairmont Shanghai - there will be 4 family members in our party - split into the 2 rooms each.

I will have booked both rooms at both hotels under my name - as I am a Le Club Accor Platinum by virtue of being FPC Platinum earlier this year.

I wonder if therefore the complimentary breakfast would be covered for all 4 of us.

Anything more than 2 adults is up to the discretion of each hotel, even if all the rooms are booked in your name.
You are only guaranteed free breakfast for 2 adults...anything more than that is a special bonus if the hotel wants to give you that.

The wording is that benefits are for the member and any registered guests staying in the same room, it does not specify a maximum number of pax.

So, if all 4 guests were in the same room, all would get benefits. However, if split between two rooms, then only the member and any registered guests in that room can enjoy benefits.

Hmmm...I'm assuming they worded the rules this way to account for teenagers aged 13 to 17 staying with their parents in the same room.

Will be interesting to see if the hotels really grant free breakfasts to more than 2 adults staying in the same room.

Can you imagine arguing the finite wording of the free breakfast benefit with check in staff in foreign countries ?

There is also the case of hotels offering rooms with two or more bedrooms. In this instance, all of the guests in this room should receive the complimentary breakfast, as per the wording of the website.

If the rate you booked "the family rate 50% off for 2nd room" would then have the 2nd room counted but the rate still only allows 2 adults and 2 children. Maybe some suites/rooms that allow 4 adults in the same room would also be counted. If the 2 rooms both have their own costs then you wont get breakfast for the 2nd room. It is very clear and I have already experienced this before. Though I did not expect but I still asked. China hotels usually follow the rules very closely. If I was you I would prepare to pay for the breakfasts for the adults in the other room. The chance the hotel will allow them to have free breakfast is less than 10% chance. Also like to note that the benefit is already very generous considering 2 years ago this did not exist unless you had lounge access.

If they are long stays, consider getting Accor Plus. At least you can then get 50% for the two paying guests.

We rarely stay more than 2 or 3 nights at a hotel and usually we book only 1 room so Accor plus has not a huge interest for me, Though I suppose I really should consider how much we are spending on room service. To make it worth while, you need to be spending over 600 AUD per year on food in restuarants or room service.

You can not use A+ on room service. Needs to be dine in at the restaurant. FYI.

Thanks for that. Makes even less reason to have it. We often don't feel like having buffets In the evening at the main restuarant. A christmas Buffet was the last time we had one.

This is the link for the Accor Plus 2018 terms and conditions:

My partner and I don't enjoy buffet dinners, either. Each of the hotels we have gone to that has a buffet dinner has also offered an a-la-carte menu to order from, which choose.

For some reason the drop-down lists on that page no longer show any countries/hotels for me. I am wondering if this benefit still valid or about to be removed?
