Not new but a "in group" conversion: Sofitel Copacabana to become a Fairmont
AccorHotels announced the conversion of Sofitel Copacabana into the first hotel with the Fairmont flag in South America. The renovation begins this month and is expected to finish in 14 months."It is an honor to inaugurate the region's first Fairmont in Brazil. Located in one of Rio de Janeiro's prime spots, the hotel will certainly bring even more visibility to the city, attracting tourists from all over the world," said Patrick Mendes, CEO of AccorHotels South America...

Lol I can see it happening that even when its re branded and opened we will still not be able to use Fairmont hotels for benefits and points.

I hope Accor is not that bad that we actually start losing luxury hotels to the Fairmont loyalty program which should winding down.

I did remember reading a review, maybe yours staying at this hotel a year or 2 ago. From memory the rooms were a little dated so it was time for a renovation.

My wife and myself said just today we better avoid being frugal with hotel spending if we want to qualify for plat next year as we probably wont stay at anymore than 4/5 accor hotels between now and the end of the year now mother in law isnt coming we will skip Amsterdam.

So sadly in London we cant splurge and go for the Fairmont Savoy. Plus we stayed at around Hyde park last time so she wants a different area of the city to explore. Sofitel is far away enough?Otherwise just suite it up at the new novotel canary wharf.

New M Gallery for Sydney West

http://www.hotelmanagement.com.au/20...outique-hotel/

AccorHotels has signed a partnership with renowned thoroughbred horse sales company William Inglis and Son Ltd to open a new-build luxury boutique hotel under the MGallery by Sofitel brand.

The William Inglis Hotel, MGallery by Sofitel is currently under construction as part of a new $140 million precinct developed by Inglis to be known as Riverside Stables.

The new facility is located adjacent to the Warwick Farm racecourse, in south-western Sydney and will feature more than 800 horse stables re-using the hardwood from the existing Inglis Newmarket stables in Randwick.

The hotel is expected to open by March 2018 and will boast 144 elegantly appointed rooms including 22 suites and a number of family rooms across eight floors. Celebrating Inglis’ racing and thoroughbred history, each hotel room will have a personalised name and theme, based on one of the many champion racehorses sold through its sales rings.

Auckland getting two new hotels.

Accor’s MGallery by Sofitel brand is expanding in New Zealand with The Hotel Grand Windsor and Eden Crescent Hotel Auckland.

The company has entered into a franchise agreement for the Hotel Grand Windsor in Auckland, effective October 2017, and also for the Eden Crescent Hotel Auckland which will open in late 2018.

The Hotel Grand Windsor in Auckland will join the group’s upscale MGallery by Sofitel brand, renowned for its unique interior design and personalised guest service.

Located on Queen Street in the heart of Auckland’s luxury boutique neighbourhood, the heritage-listed hotel, which is owned by CP Group and managed by its in-house hotel chain CPG Hotels, is currently undergoing extensive works. The renovations will highlight the property’s original 1920s art-deco features and deliver a new level of sophistication to guests.
