Not for Accor but even if you have received these bonus points, they may be caught at audit.

So if your qualification period for status crosses 2016 and 2017, do these bonus points count towards status as from 2017 they won't? Eg. If you requalify in August 2017, they'll count the last 365 days, so will August 2016 - December 2016 count the old way (bonus points included)? I can't find an answer anywhere and wonder if I should bother with the bonus points promotion.

I think everybody's status has been extended until December 2017. So any stay you do with Accor the rest of 2016 will *not* count towards status qualification (in a way, you get a break from having to fulfill xxx number of nights the rest of 2016). Status qualifications will start again starting January 2017 running til December 2017 to qualify for 2018 status.

That is, unless your current status expires December 2016. Like me. In which case apparently you still need to fulfill the qualification criteria for 2017

Thank you gilbertuae. I'll wait for a couple days then. Just feeling wary, booking period for 10,000 bonus is almost over...

Thanks for that FGunawan, however, I thought I ready somewhere that for Accor Plus the requalification will be either Jan to Dec 2017 OR the previous 365 days preceding the Accor Plus expiry. So how can this be done across 2 different systems? Would these bonus points count? It's all so complicated that I may need to employ a team of accountants to manage my Accor affairs!

Care to elaborate on why "everyone's status has been extended till Dec 17"? I don't recall reading this info anywhere... And my current status still shows expiring 31 Dec 2016

Nearly everyone...

Basically it doesn't matter when you renew in 2016 - as long as you do, your status will be valid until the end of 2017.

It makes no difference to you. If I renew, I'll get 13 months. But there we go.

2016 still matters for Accor Plus members apparently. As my expiry date is August 2017 (my Platinum status has only been renewed until this date and not December 2017) AND given that I heard something that Accor Plus will take EITHER the previous 365 days OR Jan - Dec 2017 for the next status renewal, it seems the last few months of 2016 do matter. But I just don't understand how it would be calculated under the last 365 days method if there are 2 methods going to overlap in that period (now - Dec 2016 bonus points count but Jan 2017 onwards they don't).

It's proving really difficult to get an answer - no response from Accor so far.

Aaaagh, looking to book a bunch of hotels in Vietnam for December. Don't know whether to book up and hit the 10,000 points or wait until after the 12th to see if a big sale will save me even more money.

Anyone know how likely a sale in Asia will be after this promo finishes ?

Do the 10,000 bonus points count towards status re-qualification ?

Thanks for the heads up. Took a look, sadly none in Thailand or Vietnam for me but fingers crossed something comes up, and before the 12th would be great !
