Le Club Accorhotels is changing from 2017.
What we know so far:
Membership year:
- the membership year will change to calendar year, i.e. 1 January - 31 December
- any status achieved in 2016 will be carried forward until 31 December 2017
Points:
- there will be a distinction between reward points and the new status points
- status points can only be earned through hotel stays and related expenditure
- status points are not subject to the accelerator and will be earned at a rate of 25 points/ 10 Euro in most cases (12.5 in case of ibis and ibis styles, 10 Adagio and 5 at Adagio Access)
- Points remain valid for life, if an eligible stay is realized in the past 12 months (rolling year)
Status thresholds:
- to account for the lower earning rates of status points threshold for status have been lowered: 2,000 for silver, 7,000 for gold and 14,000 for platinum
- night requirements remain unchanged
- status is dependent on status points or nights, not both
Perks:
- no change
Redemptions:
- no change
The official website: http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/leclub/new-rules-status.shtml Accorhotels have announced that an official communication to all members will issue around 7 April.
Issues still to be resolved:
- Accor Plus membership

One way to solve that problem would be to combine LCAH and Accor Plus from 2017 so Plats effectively get Accor Plus.

1) The fact that a website has been posted on FT doesn't make it official.
2) a programme change will come by email. Then it's official.
3) then I'd give it some weeks for a system wide upgrade.
You have status right now till March 2017. That's still 11 months away. Take it easy, relax, and it will be updated soon enough.
PS: mine still says March too.

The changes
I just checked my mothers gold card issued in January/February and it says until February 2017 but online now it says until the 31st of December.
My membership will renew in June this year. Currently I am on about 37,000 points for these 12 months so I am well over the amount needed for Platinium membership until the 31st of Dec 2017. Also telling family members about these changes.
The big issue which is very far off in the distance is that I guess I would not spend more than 4000 euros on Hotel accomodation each year at most. (10,500 points based on only the 25 points for every 10 euros)
Which would mean I would drop to gold based on this. So its not a good annoucement for me either and plus I feel there is little to excited about spending an extra 1000-1500 euros a year to get plat.
As some said Europe is mostly without lounges and no complimentry breakfasts.
In Asia I am usually going straight for (Junior suites with lounge access already like Sofitel Macau.)
Or the presidential suite booking in february in Chengdu (damn good price for just 450 usd per night).
I do like the accor program as it might have lower features than other programs but it is not as hard to get to the highest ranking which is fair.
I am looking at the status match offer that Hilton is offering and I am thinking to give it a try.
And yes I feel I am very loyal customer with Accor.
Since 2014 I didnt stay with a non accor hotel since that time and they were all higher categories than Ibis apart from 1.
60 nights well to me that means you really live in a hotel 2 months a year.

Gilbertaue, you are part of Accor Plus right? From what I understand when I asked one of my contacts at Accor Plus Singapore, the expiry date will follow your renewal date of your card. However she told me that if you continue renewing, you should't be worried as it will most probably continue to Dec 2017.
Best part is when I asked her about these new changes, she had no idea about it and neither did Accor Plus office know anything about it. They had to ask me to provide the weblink to the LeClub page which showed the changes then got back to me after awhile. LOL
Just goes to show how slow they communicate these type of information. It took a member to inform them about their own changes to the programme. Hahahaha

As mentioned before. I think Accor IT messed up posting that link live. So I'm not surprised nobody else in their system is aware of it.
I don't really care about the expiry. Living and working mostly in Asia, I am 99% loyal to Accor. I will make up the spent and also the nights.
What I also ask for is a lifetime status

I think maybe Amy from Accor Concierge should shed some light on this?

I do wonder though how many plats will be taken out by December 2017 because of this change?
If I am already earning above 40,000 points these past 2 years each from stays with bonus points and accelerator points. Not only that but I am still sure I would fall short by a decent 2000-3000 status points atleast if this went through.
So really this would seem to apply only to those people who earned over 50,000 points in last couple of years who would likely get over the requirment.
I would imagine the number of plats earning 50,000 or more would be much less than 20% of the current number of platinium members.
Isn't that a little too harsh?
Of course if your already going well beyond that 50,000 points then less plats is a nice thing as you would likely be spending more than 5600 euro's a year.
Anyway we'll see if these numbers hold. I think as some others have said maybe 10,000-12,000 status points might be a far more reasonable amount for plats.
