Fairmont Grand Del Mar San Diego

San Diego's cherished property (249 rooms) the Grand Del Mar will now be managed by Fairmont. Ownership is Blum Capital (Same as Claremont in Berkeley).

Key features of the luxury resort include a 21,000 square foot spa, which received a Five
Star rating from Forbes Travel Guide in 2015; 18-hole Tom-Fazio designed golf course and
clubhouse; six food and beverage venues including Addison, the resort’s AAA Five Diamond
rated signature restaurant; and a state-of-the-art fitness center. The resort also houses boutique
shopping outlets and 27,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 10,000 square foot
ballroom, perfect for both large and small scale events.

Seems like an excellent addition to the Fairmont portfolio! ^

And the entry-level suites look really nice.

Wow. Hope they don't mess with Addison. While it is certainly outrageously priced, it's a fantastic restaurant.

It also seems to be one of the most expensive Fairmont properties. $500-$650 / night for a Fairmont room on most dates.

Nothing is really on the same level as the Grand Del Mar in the San Diego area, its consistently rated as one of the best hotels in the entire US. Lebron James had his wedding here a few years back.

Wow! I checked out the site and it didn't really intrigue my interest besides the proximity to Torrey Pines golf course but now I will have to give it another look.

The Plaza is a notch above

But what makes this hotel so pricey? Location? History? Service?

Outstanding service, and it's the preferred hotel for the high-rollers during horse racing season at Del Mar. But it does seem to be on the wrong side of I-5 to be charging these prices.

So is the St. Regis and they seem to be able to get away with it too.

It's too bad this is sooo $$$, I'd really like to give it a try.
