Hmm not good. Did you manage to check online if an upgrade was technically possible? As only that way can you really say of it was done on purpose or just bad luck.

No I didn't. The person who suggested I book with them directly recommended that I check in online, and I certainly will try that in the future.

- How are the rooms? Very clean nice bed.

Good: Staff, in the UK, you sometimes do not get the staff experience you should get, by that I mean generally polite and friendly. Here the staff are friendly and very keen to help.
Gym and pool access.
Late check out, meant I could go the gym lunchtime as well as the previous evening.
Five minute walk to rail station is needed

Bad: Location in Reading is a little poor, but I guess that is in common with most city centre locations.
Pay to park you car, I did not need to park a car, but just a heads up

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? No, I do not think there is one available

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks? I have stayed here a few times, due to my office been nearby.
I do receive the drink voucher
Access to high speed internet
VIP gift, is generally chocolate. But once I got a Reading FC mug!!

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
I use the Ibis next door a few times a year, and use Broad Street Mall for parking. £3.50 overnight from 6pm till 8am i think timewise. Much cheaper than the discounted rate at a slightly closer car park the hotel recommend.

Yes despite this being my worst experience there to date. It seems like since there was a change to the GM, they don't give room upgrades or at least they are hard to obtain. Advice to platinums is to request a room upgrade in advance of your arrival and hope that request is considered.
It's such a shame for Sofitel standard, sounds more like Mercure or Novotel.

Perhaps they should be downgraded to Grand Mercure; just like Sofitel Asoke Bangkok.

Pullman Hong Kong

- What is your Le Club status?

Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes, my second stay here and I really like this hotel for the price and value.

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked Classic, given deluxe on the 19th floor with Club access.

- How are the rooms?

They are still renovating the suites, but the deluxe rooms are fine to me. Enough space for two and a nice view of the harbor from most of the rooms.

- What was good and what was bad?

Good:
Club upgrade
Good location

Bad:
Nothing

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
The lounge staff is excellent and you can do check in/out with them. No key card needed to access the 22nd floor club. Good food and service in the morning and evening. The hotel was busier this time, but still plenty of seating available.

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Welcome drink given for the bar. I had a pint of Carlsberg which I think normally costs $85.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Yes.

Club des Actionnaires Platinum

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Happy

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Lounge access + Complimentary guest.
Interesting hot food offerings (duck, lamb, prawn, scallop etc), at least 8 options presented tapas style. Possible as dinner replacement. Basic selection of wine, liquor & tinned beer ... although attendant was very prompt in writing anything consumed into his log book ... which is abit annoying as it gives an impression there will be a bill later.

- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
1 x Voucher given as per room booking. Did not redeem it.

- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Good value for $ but location slightly out of the way. Will be alternative to Hilton Petaling Jaya.

- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked standart room and got upgraded to deluxe room on the third floor (upper floor)

Good: Platinium recognition : upgrading, early check in at 12, late check-out à 16pm, drink voucher.
The hotel is situated on Murano, but the hotel offers a complimentary speedboat to and from the airport which is a saving of €110 each way. We also had access to a free transfer service to and from Venice everey day.

- Name of the hotel: Novotel Edinburgh Centre

What is your Le Club status? Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked standard, got upgraded to Executive

How are the rooms? Executive room was a decent size, slightly odd layout, some bits not in great condition

What was good and what was bad?

Good: Friendly staff, good breakfast for the price, central location

Bad: Some bits in the room broken, which housekeeping should've noticed but hadn't, queues at reception could be long

- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge? None

What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks? Got a welcome drink voucher, which was valid for pretty much any drink in the bar, and valid for a drink each for us as a couple. Also had a little plate of cake waiting in the room

Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return? Got it on a special sale rate for £50 on a Sunday night, was great for that. Monday night was going for about triple that, was less good value at that sort of price

I was there also this week-end. The breakfast was good for the price, but the organization was messy Sunday morning. They make people wait claiming there was no table available, and took some people behind me to table which were actually free. Once I had my table and went to the buffet, the staff gave my table to another couple. Nobody came to propose me tea/coffee. Bad communications between staff about which tables was free or which one was not.

But this was a great deal at 40GBP for the night.
