Pullman Basel experiences?

Hey,

I'm going to basel next month and the (new) Pullman seems to be an attractive offering. (The only downside is they don't guarantee twin beds)

Has anyone stayed here? Any thoughts on the standard vs deluxe rooms? I believe the deluxe are at the back, away from the road, and quieter.

I heard some negative comments about the "green" A/C being useless?

How does it compare to the Novotel?

Thanks.

I don't know about the Pullman but my reverb stay at the brand new Novotel was very good

I have stayed once (for one night only) in Pullman Basel hotel. Obviously I can't compare the room types. My room was located on 6th floor away from lift. It was not big but I quiet liked it. It had nice balcony.

I think it is good hotel comparing what you can get in Basel especially they offer attractive price. I think the lowest price I have seen for this hotel was around CHF 120 which is very attractive price for hotel of this standard in Basel.

I'm back from Basel. I stayed at the Pullman.

It was OK. Friendly and helpful staff. The Nespresso machine was great. Good choice at breakfast. It is the first hotel I've stayed in that had waterproof sheets under the main sheet. They're noisy, hot and unnecessary. Also, the "green" air con is useless. The room did not drop below 23c at any point even though it was ~10c outside.

I thought Basel was quite boring this time of year but if I had to return I'd probably stay at the Pullman again because it's so new.

Ha ha, the waterproof sheets thing took me right back to our stay last year at the Pullman Stuttgart.

A very nice hotel in every respect, though it too had one of those terrible plasticky mattress covers. We just took it off and folded it away in the wardrobe - the maid didn't seem to mind, she just left it where we'd put it.

I disagree about the Nespresso machine though - what a pitifully small amount of liquid it produces, however tasty.... certainly a triumph of style over substance. I need a large mug or two of coffee to start my day so a simple filter-based coffee-maker like I have in my kitchen at home would be much more useful !

If you don't have a machine you won't know this, but you can adjust the amount of water. Just press and hold the button to adjust. Press again to stop.
Or just let it run as often as you want. The cartridge will only drop out when you manually eject it.

Is there an Executive Lounge?

We stayed there for 2 nights a few weeks ago, the room was so hot and we opened our window to cool down the room. Due to tram noise, we didn't sleep so well. Grrrhhh

Has anyone been back recently and seen if they fixed the heat issue?

No one knows about the lounge situation? I suppose that means no lounge?

There's no Lounge.
