Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa

* Will be called "Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa"
The property management was recently taken over by the Accor group.
I would assume that a number of people would consider staying here and will have reports to share. Please note:
The property will undergo renovation and rebranded as a Sofitel late 2015. Renovation is slated for November 2014 until January 2016.

(GM of this hotel was previously GM at the Sofitel Brisbane and is currently "Cluster" GM of this property and that of the So Sofitel).

The simple thing to do is publicly boycott it and opt for Sofitel So instead. If there is an official Facebook page opened, tell them that Accor's loyal members won't be staying!

I am planning june and july short stays, and choice as accor member does not seem great. Novotel looks pretty ordinary, and sofitel so does not have club facilities.
Any update on the renovation details?
thanking you in advance.

Entrance and reception are closed at the moment for renovation.
Main restaurant is closed at the moment for renovation (all means in The Cliff).
No lounge.
I really like coming to this hotel on weekends. Its a different world to bustling Singapore. Having a coffee in the afternoon, hearing the peacocks, gives the while place a real tranquil colonial-like setting.

Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort And Spa
This was my first stay at the Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort And Spa. The hotel dates back to 1991 when it opened as the Beaufort Hotel. It has been "managed by Accor" for a year now and was officially flagged as a Sofitel in November 2015.
Check In
Check in was a mess. I arrived at 9.30pm and they were not ready. Nothing had been prepared. The room wasn't ready, apparently as the upgrade had "just become available" but also none of the registration documents nor the drinks vouchers were ready. I was told to wait for half an hour and come back. Fine, I went to the bar and had a drink with a friend who picked me up at the airport. I did not pay for the drinks as I assumed they were "on the house".
Room
The room was lovely. A suite with a nice bedroom, stylish bathroom and a comfortable living room with a small terrace. It felt tranquil and far away from the hustle and bustle of Singapore proper.
Service
Housekeeping was not great. The carpet in the bedroom needed vacuuming and some dusting was required. I was told that they had problem with their outsourced cleaning staff and that they had diffculties finding people. Maybe paying staff more might be the answer.
Dining
One of the great advantages here is that Platinum members get free breakfast as they don't have a lounge. I would hope others follow their lead. That said on the first morning I was harassed twice over paying the breakfast. Apparently the message was not clear for all staff.
The breakfast is buffet with an egg station. The hotel was almost completely full and at times it was a bit too manic for my liking.
I had couple of room service meals and all were very tasty and nice.
The bar is a lovely open air affair but unfortunately the staff are not very good at spotting the customer, even when it is empty.
Overall
Overall this is a very nice hotel, shame though about the lack of coordination and knowledge of the staff. While I appreciated the upgrade it took 2 days for the Platinum amenity (bottle of wine and sweets) to arrive. Equally turn down service was a bit hit and miss.
I never got to speak to the GM, however the "director of rooms" was on hand so I provided here with a bit of extra Le Club lessons. They also never got the coffee machine working properly in 4 days.
Drinks vouchers were for a "mocktail" or soft drink only.
Would I return? Maybe, if they can demonstrate that they know how to deal with Plat guests.
Location
Sentosa island is a bit away from the shopping and nighlife. However the hotel provides shuttle services to Vivo City (shopping mall) and Orchard Rd. Taxis are easy and good value. Taxi to the airport was 20 Singapore$.
