Pullman Bangsar Kuala Lumpur

Just checked and noticed that the Pullman Bangsar Kuala lumpur can be booked from the 2nd December onwards. This hotel has had delays after delays. Great to see it opening finally! Unlike the Pullman Saigon, the KL one seems to be offering all rooms bookable from start.
Lowest room rate is just under RM300 (~usd95) incl taxes which is in my opinion a good rate.

According to their FB site (and one review on TA), seems that they are already taking direct bookings.

Bangsar is too far out from town. I prefer the location of the novotel.

Pullman Bangsar Kuala Lumpur - bookings start 2nd Dec.

In town I've been staying at the Concorde for the past 15 years. But I get nothing there for status etc.
I normally drive so will give this pullman a try in December. Trying out the one at Putrajaya this weekend.

Supposedly the club floor and rooms were just upgraded last year. Don't think you can go wrong there. Several TA reviews speak highly of the club floor.

Not suitable for tourists as it's located in the suburbs, it would seem to be near MRT stations but there're no proper walkways to reach there. Will serve the travellers who have business in Petaling Jaya and are looking for an alternative to the only deluxe hotel in the area ie. Hilton PJ. The building was designated as an office tower but were called off during the Asian financial crisis (since 1997), can imagine how long the tower had been "abandoned" till now.

So I was invited and attended the Accor Loyalty Appreciation Night at Pullman Bangsar. Quite excited at the prospect of meeting fellow Le Club members... or so I thought. Turned out to be a little more than a media event where the sales directors of various accor properties rub shoulders with the tour operators who would potentially bring tour group business to the properties and the exposure from the media. So I didn't stay long but did ask to see the rooms. The hotel kindly arranged someone to escort me up to the rooms.

The rooms were standard sized starting from Deluxe rooms, Grand Deluxe (corner rooms) and the suites. I got to see the former two categories. It feels like a Novotel or a Mercure with a different colour schemes. They did not come across as being upscale like say the Pullman Bangkok. The colour tones are predominantly black and white. As the building is somewhat octogonal in shape, certains rooms have awkward corners and corners rooms are triangular in shape, though spacious.

The hotel has its soft-opening since early Nov and was told they're running full as only 10 out of 22 floors are open. I was verbally told Gold and Plat members are entitled to lounge access, internet, late check-outs and drink vouchers.

I have stayed 3 times in the hotel, it is an alternative to Hilton PJ. Club Lounge is spacious and not bad, room upgrade for platinum (1 category above + lounge access)

Metro is 5 to 10 mins walk (no dedicated pathway), easier if you have car (free parking)

Stayed in December 2013. Very sterile airport like hotel, with absolutely nothing nearby. Not easy to reach MRT and traffic makes taxis impractical.

Club lounge good. Spacious rooms

stay there few times last month and this month. the nearest LRT station is about 5 minutes away (not covered), but there is a slightly further (8 minutes + with covered walkway but somewhat complicated path)

there is nothing nearby, but the LRT is one of the mainline that connects to KL Sentral (where you take ERL to airport in 30 minutes) and KLCC

compared to novotel (despite city centre, the monorail is also about 5 minutes away and less useful than LRT)

the room is somewhat better than novotel.
it will be great if the shuttle service frequency and location improve

my next stay is mid august

Do you know what their gold upgrade policy is? I booked the category below a club room for mid-July and am hoping for lounge access.

Stayed twice as Plat, and was upgraded both times Standard to Suite.

Also allowed to bring 2 guests into the Exec Lounge which was nice

Just a data point for Accor golds: I checked in today and was upgraded from the second room category (grand deluxe) to a suite. However, I was told that the suite didn't include lounge access. I know this is permitted within the programme, but I find it rather mean. Would it have killed them to give me a simple one-category upgrade to an executive room?
