I just noticed something new with the Places App which I had not noticed before. I think this change was quite recent unless I was unobservant.
I now see my real name at the top of the main page (Stats . . . Check-ins . . . Badges) rather than the nickname I use with the Facebook Account I keep to log into Places. This means, I suppose, that our Places Accounts are now linked more closely to our Accor Membership number and real name rather than our Facebook Account and Facebook nickname.
This is very good news in my view. Maybe other people could see their real names before but it is new for me.
My run of good luck with this App is still continuing and I still Validate every check in although there is no incentive to do so 99% of the time . . . need to travel to somewhere new to get new badges now.

as you say, useless for 99% of stays, since it’s not updated on “activity” from the beginning
500/800 points for 3 stays at new brands (Banyan, Raffles, Mantis, etc) is funny ...

A few weeks ago, I stayed at a hotel in Poland that was pretty new, and didn't show up in the Places app. I sent an email to Accor customer services, and got a long but not very clear email back...
A week later, when I had another stay somewhere known by the app, nothing was showing. However, logging in today for another stay, it has! Accor customer services have had the hotel added, and done the checkin for me. What's more, the 500 bonus points for "FACEBOOK PLACES - World Citizen" have shown up too
So, if you find yourself in a new hotel that's not known by Places, it is worth emailing Accor, with any luck it'll be sorted in a few weeks too like mine was

Any recent approvals? I've got 2 stays "pending" for a few weeks already. One of these should bring me to 15 badges. Once that's done, I don't see any point in dealing with this mess of a promo/website/app.

Most of my checkins are posting in about 3-4 days right now, that's ~2 days for the underlying stay to post to me Le Club account, then another 1-2 to show in places. Worst I've seen in the last 2 months is probably 7 days for a checkin to show, best is 3.

Okay.....so I checked in, again, for the two stays that hadn't been approved yet. Both stays got approved on the second try, within 36 hours, while the first check-ins are still "pending".
Advice.....if at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
Meanwhile, I got my 15th badge (and 16th), so I'm pretty much done with the attainable badges with big payouts. Glad this is over.

The same for me, as of today. A few days ago, I had a 1-day stay at a hotel I've stayed at twice before. Today, the Addicted badge for that got me my 15th (and 16th). It'll take ages before I can get any more badges, so effectively I'm done.

My count for airport hotels is waaaay off. I have at least 10 pertinent places check-ins by my count. But Places thinks I need another 10 airport check-ins (i.e., the app says I merely got 5 confirmed check-ins). I swear that number was lower at some point but has gone up within the last few months.
Oh well. At least I somehow got both the golf and spa badges which hit me by surprise.

Got the following pop-up message when trying to open Places:
Facebook has detected Places by Le Club AccorHotels isn't using a secure connection to transfer information.Until Places by Le Club AccorHotels updates its security settings, you won't be able to use Facebook to log into it.

(You've probably never encountered this kind of error before, because pretty much every other site that requires https in order to operate auto-redirects http requests to https.)
