I agree with you. Accor plat is really only great if you are planning to stay at a Sofitel (the upgrade is quite nice) or during 3x or 4x point promotion to just transfer to an airline for miles. Since these free plat promotions are so frequent, it doesn't hurt to have elite status due to its free value.

Novotel in Athens

Checked in to Novotel in Athens yesterday, online booking - got on of the best rooms (small though; that is normal for the price paid) with a view and huge balcony.

The room was prepared in advance, so when I so the room number on a A4 page I asked if I can get a view etc, the answer was, everything is already sorted out.

So, it's not only good for Sofitel like hotels^

Love to see another round of free Accor Platinum as I missed the last one. I plan to book nights with at least one of the Accor hotels in Thailand.

Does anyone have any working promotion for Gold or Platinum status? I am not yet an A-Club member, but will be staying in one of their hotels next week. Thanks.

Enjoy!
In the T&C's it states existing members should contact customer support to upgrade to Platinum. I wonder if it is better to just start a new account then merge with your old one?

Status match at other programs

With the new free platinum status, has anyone tried to get status match at other hotel programs and can you share which ones have worked so far, if any, and how to do it?
Thanks in advance.

No programs match Accor status AFAIK, precisely because of the above.
