If you are speaking of United, here are some helpful one's...
F - First Class
A - First Class
P - First Class
C - Business Class
D - Business Class
Y - Full Fare Coach
B - Cheaper Full Fare Coach
G - "Priceline.com" NO MILEAGE
W - Cheap Coach
V - Cheap Coach
H - Cheap Coach
M - Cheap Coach
*X - Mileage Plus Ticket NO MILEAGE
* = Any letter

Y = Fully Refundable Coach
H = Slightly Discounted Non-Refundable Coach
K = Non-Refundable Coach
B = Non-Refundable Coach
V = Non-Refundable Coach
Q = Non-Refundable Coach
T = Non-Refundable Coach (this class is what they typically reserve to match low fare carrier fare sales)
V, Q and T are often excluded when using promotional discounts
A = Purchased First Class

On Continental international flights classes J,D,Z replace A,D,F. The BF seats for upgrades is a class R which does not show in ITN but is equivalent to Z at most times.
On international flights , coach classes below B are not upgradable at most times.
