JKF departure is a bit early as well. Not a sleeper flight for sure.

I would guess the level of demand is so genuinely high, and transport links (via the old Thameslink line and from Victoria) are so good to London, and people along the South Coast and in Kent and the eastern part of Greater London would be interested in a LGW departure that the catchment area is sufficiently high and infrastructure so clearly developed that BA LGW-JFK is something of a natural, really. Also there are flights LTN-NYC, STN-NYC and soon LCY-NYC. Why not LGW?
