Cost Cutting: No Coffee prior to takeoff on 737-300/500

New policy as of about 2 weeks ago. No coffee in F prior to take off as it requires the APU to be running which takes a lot of fuel which unfortunately costs too much right now. Beware if you have an early morning flight and are planning on waking up with that first cup.

Sounds like one of those too funny to be true ideas, but that's the reason I was given.

Evidently, only the 737-300/500 series planes require the APU to be running for the coffee pot to work. The other planes don't need the APU so this policy doesn't affect them.

Anyone else have the same experience?
