As posted, it's under a 30-min ride to/from STR, and the train station in Stuttgart is a short walk to the LM. The city-center area of Stuttgart is quite walkable. The S-Bahn gives you easy access to all kinds of GREAT day trips from there to the surrounding areas. The ICE's arrive/depart from the same train station, which means FRA, MUC, and possibly ZRH are w/in your reach as well.
