They could pay for access if they wanted to. MGA has a lounge run by the EAAI (owners) . AA gives you nothing while COPA and TACA pay for admittance for J passengers. AA looks cheap in these circumstances yet boast about their LatAm presence.

I suspect the cost of the Y to J differential in service amenities is not even the $35 that they's have to pony up to do this so that might be a reason why they don't.
