As I recall, after I closed my etrade account, I also ended up with a balance (fifteen cents or so) from accrued interest. I called them to make sure I wouldn't get hit with inactivity fees. The rep offered to zero out the balance, but I was sufficiently annoyed at 'em that I made them send me the check
