Just got UG'd for my 3rd flight on UA tomorrow - a 6:15AM RDU-IAD flight...I agree, UA1k is probably better than NW Plat, but even though I flew well over 100K miles last year, I still think that the NW provided me with better value as I'm 95% domestic (and being DC based, 1K's are a dime a dozen...)
