Everyone should get in the habit of leaving their Social Security Card at home in a secure place. Don't keep it in your wallet! Memorize your SSN. If your wallet is lost or stolen, a criminal could steal your identity, and the presence of your SS card in your wallet would make it much easier for them to do so. (I stopped carrying my Social Security card in my wallet 15 years ago after reading an article about identity theft). Also, be careful who you give your SSN. Don't hand it out like candy at Halloween.
