I've been yelled at in several airports and lectured to put my wallet through the X-Ray. Even when it doesn't set off the WTMD. Same with a dress belt (small buckle).

So now, I load it all into one carry-on bag so it won't get stolen or lost (especially with the new 2-lanes, one WTMD system). There is no question when I do that.

Bart, I think some screeners need training on that point.

I had one toss my passport into a bin to go through the WTMD. I did grab it back and snap at the screener that my passport does NOT leave my person, especially since I was headed out on an international trip. Losing the passport in the bowels of a machine (or having it stolen) would be a disaster under those circumstances.
