The answer is no. It does not get you into ANY *A lounge. You will not have access to LHs first class lounges, SQ SilverKriss etc.
But, you will have access to any *Gold lounge. So in most airports you will have access to a lounge when traveling on any Star Alliance carrier in any class.
The other big exception is that *Gold from US based carriers will not get you into their lounges when flying domestically. *G from none US based programs however will. See the post by UALboy.
This is one of the biggest benefits of *Gold status: Lounge access even when flying economy.
