I'm flying from London Heathrow to JFK on Thursday on American Airlines, into JFK Terminal 8, and I can't remember from my last flight - do I clear Immigration/Customs in Terminal 8 or do I have to transfer to another terminal for that?

I'm being met at the airport so I want to make sure I give the right directions to the people meeting me.
