I use to live in the Ft. Lauderdale area and MIA was only about a 30-45 minute drive away. FLL was my preferred airport but MIA was a great alternative. I've been away from South Florida for 11 years, but my guess is I-95, I-75 and the Florida Turnpike gridlock isn't any better since then. So it is hard to say if MIA would siphon traffic away from FLL. I also think with all the baby boomers starting to winter in warmer climates during the winter months that PBI should be considered as a seasonal route.
