I had a site visit last night to both The SIGNATURE at MGM Grand and SKYLOFTS at MGM Grand. (The Signature was giving a reception for Virtuoso members attending Travel Mart which is currently taking place in Las Vegas.)

I really liked The Signature. There are three room types. A "Junior Suite," a One BR Suite, and a Two BR Suite (which is a 1 BR connecting with a Jr. Suite). Either the Jr. Suite or the 1 BR suite can sleep four comfortably (both have a pull-out sofa in the LR area). The 2 BR suite can sleep eight comfortably. Each suite also has either a kitchenette (Jr. Suite) or a full kitchen (1 BR); the full kitchens are equipped with SubZero refrigerator, a Miele cooktop, and a Bosch dishwasher ... and they are supplied with Cuisinart cookware and very nice stainless utensils. Each room type has a jacuzzi tub and a separate shower. The 1 BR suites have two full baths, and the 2 BR suites have three full baths.

The furnishings are contemporary and very inviting. Half of the rooms overlook the airport. The other half overlook the Strip. We were in Tower 2, high up, with a direct view of the Eiffel Tower.

One of the notable things about Signature--no casino and a completely non-smoking building. For me, this would be a great feature; for others, not so great.

I met some guests in the elevator and asked them about the service. They said their check-in was flawless. (Compare to a place like the Bellagio with a mob scene at the front desk).

SKYLOFTS is an oasis of quiet atop MGM. The architecture and interior decoration is contemporary and minimalist. It was "cool" to Signature's "warm." It's stunning, if stark. We saw a 1 BR pod. The living room was downstairs (no sofa bed), and the bedroom was upstairs. There was a TV built into the bathroom mirror! The bedroom had a rainshower and an "infinity" soaking tub. And, you're picked up at the airport by your concierge in the Maybach limo.

Both hotels had nice beds with wonferful, soft feather pillows (among the choices).

The reception featured food from the different restaurants at MGM Grand. An entire floor at The Signature was blocked off for the reception, and each restaurant was offering samples in a different bedroom. All I can say, the samples were amazing. We had a great meal sampling what was offered by each restaurant.

Both hotels are members of Virtuoso with amenities such as available upgrades and complimentary in-suite breakfasts.
