I've been watching this thread;

I think these flights are linking up with the standard flight route for flights from SYD to BNE.

IME, they generally travel up along the east of the coastline before veering slightly back over the coast and inland for BNE somewhere between Newcastle and Forster. Often get great view of the Sydney's Northern beaches and the Ku-Ring-Gai Chase from the left hand windows.

In the opposite direction, BNE to SYD normally aircraft pass further inland, somewhere over Armidale and onward to SYD.
