Am on a flight tomorrow from ORD to LAS and coach is oversold. I have 9E so my seat is fine, but F has quite a few seats left. Since there may be a chance of getting bumped up front, what is the opinion or whether or not checking in the day before helps or hinders getting bumped. If you are already checked in are they less likely to bump you ahead of time, versus getting bumped up at the gate. i.e. those nice and rare occurances when you check in at the airport and see you are not in 12C but rather 3A.
