Paulina - It really depends on what your instrests are: outdoors, history, etc.
There is plenty to see and do all along the Rocky Mountain West. Keep in mind, it's a broad area - so plan carefully so you don't find yourself in your car for the entire trip. It's a good days drive between Denver and Montana.
Here are some ideas by state:
Colorado:
Mesa Verde (Indian ruins - very neat) in the south west corner of the state.
Rocky Mountain National Park - 2 hours north west of denver or the mountain in general.
Grand Junction - West side of the state - plenty of vineyards
Pikes Peak - West of Colorado Springs (1 hour south of denver)
Boulder - Neat town (30 min north west of Denver)
Wyoming:
Grand Teton Nation Park
Yellow Stone
Montana:
Personally, I'd stick to the western part of the state.
Bozeman - Just a neat town
Glacier National Park - From what I've heard very beautiful!

Hope these help
