Thinking about the DVD drive I guess i can survive a few weeks abroad without one actually....
I've been using a VAIO TR-3A for over 2 years. It has everything I need for travel.
The new VAIO I saw was perfect in every sense, but it was massively overpriced, i figured at least $500 more just for the name, and thats a little OTT.
I saw a pretty decent Toshiba, but the guy was telling me that Toshibas now only have a 3 month warranty, which put me off a little.
