Time sync (network time protocol / ntp) is a service built into windows XP and vista, if you're using another version of windows, look at tardis ( http://www.kaska.demon.co.uk/tardis.htm )

then choose a 'nearby' time server, windows usually defaults to its own time server which is quiet busy and in many cases 'far enough' network wise to introduce some delay and possible errors.

A list of timeservers around the world are on : http://www.pool.ntp.org/zone/@

to change your local time server in windows, double click on the clock in the corner right hand side then choose internet time tab. sync and enjoy.
