Never travel without it!
I always have chocolate in my hand luggage, emergency rations or security blanket, you know. Have had no problems, even going through LHR over Labor Day with the minimum size bag, let alone on domestic flights.
Even declaring it as food coming back to the US, the only question I had from customs at LAX was a joking "did you bring enough for me, too?".
