Also when I made a reservation it didn't automatically assign me a seat on one leg when there were available Seats. Is it just me?
try logging onto aa.com, changing around your reservation preferences, saving them, logging out, logging back in, and changing them to where you want them.
Also -for the next 3-4 flights, call to confirm your seat assignment when you make the reservation, and again the day before the flight
