Andrew (or anyone else here on FT), if you opt for an earlier standby flight and don't get on, is your original confirmed flight still valid and 'confirmed' if it gets to that time/flight?

ie. do you lose your spot on your original flight?

ps. sorry, too early in the morning to do a more expansive search than the one done to find this thread.
