I usually stick to Hampton Inns and Fairfield Inns. I have had pleasant stays at newer Super8's, Holiday Inn Express and Microtel. If you feel the need to have reservations beforehand, stick with the major's. I've had very pleasant stays on Road Trips and places I came across while driving and decided to stop.
