This posting is timely! I just flew Sun Country for the first time in several years and had a great experience. I went looking for their board to see what others thought and couldn't find a board.
For about $220each RT MSP-MIA, my family of four easily got seats together - seating assigned on day of travel, got hot meals, two beverage services, and even a second snack service. All on a 3 1/2 hour flight. The FAs smiled and joked with everyone the whole time (which is something I'm unfamiliar with when flying on NWA), and actually seemed to enjoy their jobs. Flew on one of their rented Transavia 737s, with comfortable seats with more room than NWA.
They even screwed up and had a great recovery. One of my bags was erroneously sent on a 1 hour later flight. I needed to move my two kids from the HHH terminal to the Lindberg for a quick connection. The lost luggage clerk took my info and called my cell phone when the 2nd plane landed and met me at curbside with my bag (only about 1/2 hour after I had departed HHH)! Now that is truly customer service!
I've got one more trip to Asia to requalify for NWA's Plat Elite for next year. After that, I will do as much domestic travel as I can on Sun Country.
I would love to take a trip with an NWA exec on NWA and on Sun Country and show them the differences in sevice and attitude. If NWA could capture the Sun Country attitude, they just might show a profit and pull themselves out of Chapter 11.
