AA would not give up a 777. They can't get enough now for Shanghai, Delhi, etc. They could surely add HKG, Europe (from LAX), etc., with more 777s.
RDU-LGW is getting downgraded b/c it's the least profitable 777 run in the schedule, I'm sure. Why? Probably due to lack of economy of scale -- at both ends.
