If you do a search, there have been two threads about it that I remember, one on TAM and one comparing TAM and Varig. I think the final consensus was that TAM (then) had no capacity controls for its own frequent flyers or its partners' whereas Varig had no controls for its own elite members, but controls for everyone else.
