I guess if the process to get your bags was quicker and the time it takes was more consistent, maybe folks would bring less stuff on.

These days the carry on luggage is just out of control. I try really hard to manage the bins, but even turning and relocating and doing what I can , most flights, we end up checking a bag or two, sometimes more.

The ones that travel the most seem to do the least to help the situation. It amazes me when the elites come on first..those folks with seats scattered between the exit row fwd. They just throw their bags up any which way, the rollerboard, the overstuffed computer bag and the big wool coat.(exceptions to every rule) THEN the nicely folded suit jacket next to the luggage as if there is an imaginary bubble protecting the integrity of the jacket. I read this board and therefore I am VERY careful when touching or moving those special jackets let alone the other bags. MOST times I will ask if i can place it ON the rollerboard keeping it all nice and folded, yet people act SO put out. Like I am picking on them and trying to incovenience only them. Like I said there are exceptions, and believe me, the ones that try to arrange their items using the least space are noticed...THANK YOU!!!

Sometimes I want to just run to the back galley and give up. Folks are so ungrateful when I am trying to accomodate as much luggage as i can. And believe me, I dont need some huge "thank you so much". Just lose the 'tude when we are TRYING to help. The carry on issue is a huge catch 22, like most things in this industry. If everyone was indeed assigned space, there would not be enough space for everyone's carry-on luggage, unless each pax brought nothing larger than a backpack maybe.

Myself and other stews try to keep the FC bins closed and make sure ONLY F/C pax bags are stowed there, but you know what...Most often there is not enough room for all F/C travelers to have bin space when everyone brings a rollerboard, computer bag, and/or those SUPER GIANT folded over stuffed garment bags. Often the last few F/C pax who come on will not have space in F/C for their bags...and I know they are thinking that the bags in first are really from pax in the back...but NO, the first 5 F/C paz who rushed down at the start of boarding filled those bins all themselves! And then the reason the bins just beyond F/C are filled are the elites that rushed down after the F/C pax.

FYI, the company just put a little thing out trying to crack down on those FAs who bring on 5 shopping bags with their normal rollerboard & tote. They read this board and really do listen to you guys and gals!

Please do not read any ill will in this post...I think about you guys on this board EVERY flight. I want you guys to be happy...makes my day MUCH easier! I just wish I had the end all be all solution to the carry-on bag issue.
