My last trip put me over 100,000 Delta status miles again this year.
I don’t think it is going to happen next year.
The main reason is not the SWU fiasco, although that plays a big part. The reason is that by dumping the Portland flights to Japan, I am much less likely to use Delta for my two trips there (going through LAX is too painful).
Another factor is that my company will pay for business class. I might go through LAX to get upgrades, but why take that trip if I can fly nonstop to Japan from SFO on United?
With two Japan trips, an Australian trip (DL in not in the running on this one!) and a number of trips to IAD, I would seem to be on my way to a decent status on United. And anything less than Platinum on Delta doesn’t seem to be worth the effort.
