Thank you very much Seat 2A for this wonderful tripreport and greetings from Germany.

It brought back memories of our visit to Alaska in late July/early August this year.We are now addicted to Alaska and will return as soon as possible.

We did a combination of a landtour on our own and a cruise.

We flew from DUS-FRA-ORD-ANC on LH/UA.

From ANC we took the train to Denali und two days later to FAI.
Then we picked up a car and drove down to Valdez, then on the AMHS
to Whittier and on to ANC by car . (Ship: M/V Kennicott)

In Denali (July 31, 2005) we took the bus to Kantishna. It was a beautiful
day and DENALI was ,(if possible),allways visible, sometimes without clouds.
The day before it was heavy raining.

During our trip we had only 2 rainy days (from ANC -Denali and Valdez-Whittier-ANC).

Again we took the train from ANC to Seward.Beautiful scenery.

During the Cruise we visited Hubbard Glacier,Juneau,Skagway, Icy Strait and
Ketchikan, Inside Passage, YVR).

One highlight (the whole trip was a highlight) was a flight from Ketchikan to Anan Creek to visit black bears.
We flew with Michelle from Island Wings. It was a 40 year old De Haviland Beaver.
The Scenery was amazing as well as the the bears. We enjoyed every second.

Greetings

Petra and Michael

PS:

Beside our Flights, cruise and car rental ,we made all our reservations( Hotel, train, ferry, daytrips etc... ) direct in Alaska via Internet/E-mail.
Everybody was very very nice and helpful (English is not my native language)and everything went without no problems.
