I'd just nod and go stand just inside the door. As soon as someone left, I'd return to the agent and re-show my card.
They would be pretty hard pressed to admit another guest "in front of you" as well.
Priority Pass seems to get rave reviews. I will probably go for it after my US Airways Club membership expires in January.
