Not sure of the reason but I'll take an educated guess.
IMO, there are only two reasons why DL would pull out of a particular route, traffic notwithstanding:
1. They were losing money on the route.
2. They were making money but there was another route where they felt they could make more money. And since they have a limited amount of aircraft, they have to deploy them in the most profitable manner possible.
Just my two pesos worth on the situation.
Perhaps some of the Song devotees on this board can give you a more meaningful explanation.
