Question 1, no. The call to action is to call the Platinum Concierge line that is listed on the back of your membership card and book and redeem using FRED as the award id.

Question 2, This wasn't meant to be an offer to cancel and re-book to wedge your existing plans into something that was already booked. However, I think we all realize that this will - in fact - be happening. In that event, the reservation would not necessarily have to be canceled and re-booked, and in some cases, this would not be a possibility if the hotel has since sold out. Better to call the Platinum Concierge line and ask them to cancel the award, not the reservation, and replace the award with a new one at 25% off.

I realize that this means that Question 1 can probably be done after all, but it seems to be a needless extra step, no?
