You're really missing the point. Their target group is people who don't need to re-think how they are charging expenses to hit that 150k (or 250 for that matter). While I do understand your frustration after having aimed at the 150, the actual target group, as indicated by the soon to be increased spending minimum, is people who spend 250k regardless of whether or not they are trying to get a Black Amex.
