I would guess that this is (yet another) bug in the Calculator. When we were talking here about the EWR-SIN discrepancy, somebody explained about the IATA zone system and how any route between North America and Asia must be considered trans-Pacific. You should send the *A programmers a note at [email protected] and point it out.

In the olden days, before the internet, it used to require hours in the library scouring the OAG in order to be one step ahead, information-wise, of the travel agent. Now we've got all this info at the touch of a button--but it still takes nearly as much time as before because you need to double-triple check that what you find online is correct!
