NW sounds pretty cheap ... $5 food credit? When I've been delayed on Delta they've always given me $10 or $15 ...
I would take the miles too if given the option though!
Actually, what you're talking about from NW is probably a bit different since you can get miles. The Delta Courtesy Coupons are not too hard to come by if you don't mind trying to sweet talk a counter agent or some red coat.
