I tried American’s free Viasat wifi for the first time today. Same disconnect and speed issues as Viasat on Delta, which was to be expected. What’s hilariously very American Airlines is their login process. You have to watch two full 30 second advertisements (cannot skip them), then it very quickly says you’re online and auto-redirects you to the Citi website to apply for an AA credit card. Maybe Delta’s does that if it knows you don’t have a Delta Amex, but If I had to guess I’d bet not.
When I logged in for the first time on my phone I had no idea I was successfully connected to WiFi until I navigated away from the Citi site.
United leads the way with Starlink, hopefully Leo transforms Delta’s experience, and I feel like American will always get in their own way with something tacky. Excited for my “once in a lifetime opportunity” credit card pitch when I land in 2 hours.
