I just tested the cookie tool. Unfortunately, for some reason, it works just fine on one machine (the one I didn't have problems logging out on in the past), but on my laptop, where I've always had problems, it won't delete some of the cookies (most importantly bbuserid and bbpassword). Because it won't delete them, I still can't log out.

That being said, I decided to become a geek for a minute.

I went into my cookies (on my computer, it was in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files ) and looked at the FlyerTalk cookies. On the machine where I could log out, the cookie was Cookie:administrator@www.flyertalk.com/ whereas on the machine where it was broken the cookie was Cookie:[email protected]/ . I manually deleted the cookie on the broken machine, closed all browser windows, and re-opened IE to connect. I had to log in. I logged in and hit remember me, then clicked log out. Sure enough, I was logged out.

So it looks to me like the answer is not just to delete individual components of the cookie, as the script that the vBulletin folks provided does, but to delete the entire cookie. Unfortunately, it's not easy for a non-technical person to do, because you can't do it through IE. Instead, you have to find the folder with your cookies and manually delete the one specific to flyertalk. One way to do it is to do a search on your computer (should be a search button on the Start... menu) and search for the term administrator@flyertalk - if you find that file (there may be one or two, if there are more, you probably found something else) you should be able to delete it and everything should work well again.

Still a bit on the techie side, but hopefully this will help some folks...

I have installed a add on to the bulletin board that should allow you to remove any board related cookies without going into the browser preferences:

If you use this or the your browser preferences to delete all of your FT cookies you should be logged out. Please post how the above link works for you if you give it a try. Hopefully there is a patch for this in the future, but I am not sure if that will happen if the cause really has to do with IE 6 corrupting cookies. Thanks,
